Donation to help people
'hurting and struggling';
it's an issue that 'has touched
. . . my extended family'
ONTARIO AUTO DEALER RYAN FINCH
has donated $5 million to St. Joseph's Health
Care London to support research into
improving access to mental health services.
Finch is president of Finch Auto Group,
which has eight dealerships in the London,
Ont., area. He told the London Free Press
that the pervasive nature of mental illness
spurred him to act.
" It has touched mine and my extended
family, " he said in a story published June
15, adding that he also noticed the issue at
work. " I could see that there was a number
of our staff who were hurting and struggling.
It needed somebody to step up and put
some oomph behind this cause. "
The money will create a research chair
in mental health system transformation at
the Lawson Health Research Institute, the
research institute of London Health Sciences
Centre and St. Joseph's Health Care London.
" This is someone who is going to help us
reboot the [mental health care] system and
look at what is a new and better way that we
can offer services in the community, " Jodi
Younger, vice-president of patient care and
quality at St. Joseph's, told the Free Press.

Fast Freeland fined $273

DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER
Chrystia Freeland, who recently
bragged about not owning a
car, confirmed that she received
a $273 speeding ticket in northern
Alberta in August.
According to a ctvnews.ca story
Aug. 23, Freeland admitted to the
violation. " I was driving too fast,
and I won't do it again. "
According to the Alberta government's
website, a $273 ticket
equates to 32 km/h over the posted
limit. CTV News reported that
Freeland was clocked at 132 km/h.
In July, Freeland
was criticized by
the Conservative
Party over her
comments that she
still does not own
a car, relative to
the rising cost of
gasoline and the
Liberal government's
carbon
taxes, without
mentioning her
frequent use of a
