shopping centre manager

largest Tesla showroom and service centre
is under construction in Hamilton, Ont.
According to an Oct. 22 story on the
Retail Insider website, the store, in the
CF Lime Ridge shopping centre, will open
in the fall of 2024.
" It's about 60,000 square feet (6,000
square metres). It is massive, " Andy
Traynor, general manager of the mall,
told Retail Insider. " We've been negotiating
this deal with Tesla for over a year,
and we're thrilled they will be part of our
assortment here at Lime Ridge. "
The showroom will open into the mall,
while overhead doors outside will offer
customers access to the service department.
Traynor
is excited for reasons beyond
the rent Tesla negotiated, which wasn't
disclosed. " It works. Just the curiosity
factor alone will draw traffic down that
wing. So it will act as an anchor whether
you can afford a Tesla or not. " - ANC

Highway 400 was closed after a semitrailer spilled a
full load of celery, no doubt dampening happy hour
spirits somewhere. No injuries were initially reported.

A semitrailer entering Highway
400 near Aurora, 60 kilometres
north of Toronto, on Oct. 3 tipped
and spilled a full load of celery. No
injuries were initially reported.
Ontario Provincial Police didn't
specify a cause of the incident, but
Highway 400 was diverted onto
Highway 9 for several hours as the
cleanup progressed.

on electricautonomy.ca, the townships
of Bonnechere Valley, North Algona
Wilberforce and Whitewater Region
are each looking to get one electric
utility vehicle and two charging stations
with support from the federal
government's Rural Transit Solutions
Fund.

There are some taxi services about
a half-hour away. So there's really
not a lot of options coming through
here, " Annette Gilchrist, Bonnechere
Valley's chief administrative officer,
told the website.
The three rural communities are 80
kilometres northwest of Ottawa and
directly south of Pembroke.
" If we have to have more cars on the
road, we thought, wouldn't it be great
if we could have one that's shared and
one that's green? " Gilchrist said.
The Rural Transit Solutions Fund,
launched in 2021, proposes to provide
$250 million over five years to help
rural communities develop local transit

but Toronto council is split on
whether there will be any benefits
CANADA'S LARGEST CITY HAS CAPPED THE
number of ride-hailing vehicles in hopes of increasing
driver incomes and reducing vehicle emissions,
according to an Oct. 12 story on the Mississauga
news website nsauga.com.
Toronto City Council voted 16-7 in favour of the
motion to limit ride-hailing vehicles to the current
level of about 52,000. The freeze is intended to be
temporary; the city has directed staff to produce a
report in 2024. According to nsauga.com, councillors
opposed to the move fear it will become permanent,
and they say the city should expect legal challenges
from the main players in the industry, Uber
and Lyft.
Supporters of the move claim it will increase pay
for drivers by reducing competition and hold the line
on emissions by limiting the number of ride-hailing
vehicles on the road. Toronto's decision follows a similar
move by New York City in 2018. - ANC
