vehicle to Dubai
A TORONTO MAN HAS DRAWN
perhaps the most comprehensive
map showing how stolen vehicles
end up in the Middle East.
Unfortunately, it was his 2022 GMC
Yukon SUV - with Apple AirTags
on board - that helped draw that
map.
According to a Jan. 15 report
by CBC, Andrew's (his last name
was withheld) vehicle was stolen
Aug. 7. Using the reports from the
AirTags - which ping off nearby
Apple smartphones to determine
the location - he tracked the vehicle
to the Canadian Pacific terminal
in Vaughn, Ont., north of
downtown Toronto, where police
narrowed its location to one of two
containers.
Andrew said neither the CP Rail
police nor the municipal police
intervened, so he watched as the
SUV went to Montreal and then fell
off the grid for three weeks before

members of the news media rolled up their
sleeves Jan. 25 to help combat hunger by bagging
2,525 pounds of apples for Second Harvest.
The effort amounted to 505 bags for the
Toronto-based national organization, which
works with businesses and nonprofits to collect
and distribute surplus food for those in need.

The trim comes with personalized Luxwood

with 20-inch multispoke black alloy wheels, both
exclusive to the model.
Hyundai unveiled the variant at the Montreal
Auto Show Jan. 19-27, with Montreal Canadiens
icon and Hockey Hall of Famer Yvan Cournoyer
alongside.
Hyundai Canada has been the official automotive
partner of the NHL, National Hockey
League Players' Association and NHL Alumni

Hyundai Canada, said the new model brings the
NHL " one step closer to our customers. "
The Santa Fe NHL Edition was shown at the
Hyundai NHL Fan Fair at the Metro Toronto
Convention Centre during NHL All-Star Weekend,
Feb. 1-4, followed by the Canadian International
AutoShow in Toronto, Feb. 16-25. - ANC
The Nissan Canada Foundation collaborates
with charitable organizations, and this year it is
focusing on food and security, said Tara Willis,
the automaker's senior manager of diversity,
equity, inclusion and philanthropy.
The foundation has donated $700,000 to its philanthropic
partners, with 47 per cent of that earmarked
for food and security, Willis said.
" High inflation, food prices going up, visits to
food banks and food theft rising made us want to
help even more, " she said.

an innocent BMW

IT'S A CLASSIC CASE OF
being in the wrong place at the
wrong time.
When a powerful winter
storm swept through the
Mississauga, Ont., area the
weekend of Jan. 13, it toppled the
sign of an iconic restaurant -
John Anderson Charcoal Broil
Hamburger - and crushed a
late-model BMW X5 crossover.
According to a Jan. 15 post on
the website BlogTO, winds were
forecast to gust to as high as 90
km/h that weekend. A video
shared on Instagram by user
areacode416ix shows the X5 with
the large metal sign resting on
top.
