Service director works his
muscles to help save a life

ike some other fi xed ops professionals,
Scott Gregg spent part of February recording
himself doing pushups and
posting it on LinkedIn.
Gregg, service director at Tucson Subaru in
Arizona, took part in the 22 Pushup Challenge.
Th e campaign's goal was to raise awareness
about the suicide rate of military veterans
by having people do 22 push ups for 22
days and then post their videos on social media
channels. Organizers say 22 veterans die
by suicide each day.
Participants can nominate others to take
part in the challenge. Gregg says Mike Vogel,
president of Automotive Service Manager
Coaching, tapped him, and Gregg welcomed
the challenge.
" It's a worthy cause, " he says. " I have a lot of
military people in my family. "
Gregg's father served in the military, as well
as two of his brothers. Two of his nephews
currently serve. He was already aware that
some veterans have diffi culty coping after
leaving the military.
" I've known that some struggle and have a
hard time re-acclimating into society. Some
just can't do it, " Gregg says. " But I didn't know
about the 22 number. Th at's just horrible.
" Anything I can do to create awareness I'll
do. "
Gregg says he wasn't worried about the
number of push ups.
" I go to the gym pretty regularly, " he says. " I
don't work out hard, but I keep in shape. So 22
push ups wasn't bad. "
But that didn't stop the occasional online
critic of his form.
" One guy commented that I didn't put my
chin to the fl oor, " Gregg says with a laugh. " Yeah,
that ain't gonna happen. "
