IPL Global snags Bright Green Plastics
CANADA-BASED
plastic
packaging manufacturer IPL
Global has acquired West Yorkshire-based
plastic recycling
firm Bright Green Plastics from
investment firm AIAC. Bright
Green Plastics started out in
1992 as a subsidiary of the Linpac
Group, but it was bought
by AIAC and rebranded as
Bright Green Plastics in 2020.
The company currently recycles
around 40,000 tonnes of
plastic waste each year, mainly
polypropylene and high-density
polyethylene from sources such
as household waste and commercial
products.
Bright Green Plastics will
continue to operate under the
existing management team,
which includes General Manager
Steve Spencer, who
joined the business in 2019.
The company employs some
130 employees, all of whom
will be retained.
IPL Global, which was acquired
in October 2020 by
Chicago-based private equity
investment firm Madison
Dearborn Partners, says it
plans to invest in equipment
and projects to increase the
recycling capacity and capabilities
of the business. In
the U.K., IPL Global operates
facilities in Rotherham, Hull,
Tamworth and Wolverhampton.

lending institution of the European
Union owned by its member
states that make funding
available for investments that
contribute toward EU policy
goals. It is also one of the largest
providers of climate finance
in the world.

Origin Materials, Mitsui form strategic partnership
THE NEW partnership between
Mitsui, a Japanese
global trading and investment
company, and carbon negative
materials company Origin
Materials aims to rapidly develop
and industrialise sustainable
products for a host
of diff erent industries based
on Origin Materials' patented
technology platform.
The partnership will leverage
Mitsui's global supply
chain strength, access to Japanese
and international markets,
and leadership in business
innovation. As part of the
partnership, Mitsui signed a
multiyear capacity reservation
agreement to purchase sustainable
carbon-negative materials
from Origin Materials.
The partnership, said Origin,
represents 'further progress
Origin aims to enable the world's transition to sustainable materials
in Origin's mission to enable

notice: In January, Origin was
recognised by the Business
Intelligence Group for its leadership

supply chain-ready materials.
In September 2021, Origin
was the recipient of The Sustainability

by the Business Intelligence
Group's 2021 Sustainability
Awards programme, which
honours companies that have
made sustainability an integral
part of their business practice.
Sunlight Group to acquire majority stake in Technoform
ATHENS, GREECE-headquartered
Sunlight Group Energy
Storage Systems, a technology
company specializing
in integrated and innovative
industrial and off-road energy
storage solutions with a focus
on lithium and lithium cell
manufacturing, has signed an
agreement to acquire 70% of
the shares in Technoform, a
company in Kilkis (GR) that
designs and manufactures
advanced moulds and components.
The remaining 30%
will be retained by the company's
founders, the Dokouzgiannis
family. The deal will
cement the long-standing
collaboration between the
two companies.
With Sunlight's support,
Technoform will implement an
ambitious investment plan to
broaden its product portfolio
and increase its competitiveAS
has signed a €45 million
loan agreement with the EIB to
support research into innovative
green hydrogen technologies
and the company's R&D
investments in new catalysts
and catalytic technologies. The
transaction is supported by the
European Fund for Strategic
Investments, the main pillar of
the European Commission's
Investment Plan for Europe. A
main focus is R&D investments
for the development of new
catalysts, catalytic technologies
and innovative hydrogen
technologies that are expected
to reduce carbon emissions
by enabling the production of
greener chemicals and renewable
fuels, such as green hydrogen,
green ammonia, biofuels
and electrified methanol.

a €30 million loan agreement
with the EIB to support the
commercial development of its
C-Zyme enzymatic PET recycling
technology. The EIB loan
contract reflects Carbios' potential
to address the growing
concern of plastics pollution
through the development of its
enzymatic recycling process.
Carbios' technology converts
PET plastic into its core monomers,
which can then be used
for feedstock as new 100% recycled
PET. The funds, to be
disbursed in a single tranche,
are subject to a vote at an
extraordinary shareholders'
meeting, which Carbios will
hold in the first quarter of 2022.
The loan agreement is supported
by the European Commission's
InnovFin Energy Demonstration
Programme.
