PRS
Recycling
on show
The PRS brand - short for Plastic Recycling Shows - is a burgeoning
phenomenon. What started as a small pilot show in Amsterdam in 2017 has
today grown into a global name that is recognised around the world.
T
he PRS brand now
encompasses, next
to the PRSE show in
Europe, one in Dubai
that launched in 2023, one in
India and one in Singapore.
The latter two will both debut
in 2024.
This rapid expansion underscores
the increasing global
emphasis on sustainable practices,
the transition towards
more circularity and the need to
address the challenges posed
by plastic waste.
PRSE has over the years
become a crucial platform for
industry leaders, policymakers
and stakeholders to converge,
share insights and knowledge
to promote the circular economy
and advance the agenda of
plastics recycling. Dubai looks
set to travel that same path for
the industry in the Middle East
and Africa. And already, the responses
to the announcements
of the two other shows have
been overwhelming.
The expansion of these
shows is indicative of the industry's
proactive response
to the evolving regulatory
landscape and consumer demands
for more sustainable
and environmentally friendly
products. By highlighting the
latest advancements in plastics
recycling technologies,
showcasing best practices
and promoting collaboration,
these shows not only foster
innovation but also inspire
stakeholders to adopt responsible
and efficient recycling
practices that contribute to a
more sustainable future.
pening until 19-20 June 2024.
Even so, it has already broken
records in terms of exhibitor
numbers and floor space. As
always, the show will be organised
jointly by Crain Communications
and Plastics Recyclers
Europe at the RAI in Amsterdam.
While the intention was
to expand from the two halls
it occupied in 2023 to three, it
was recently announced that
now a fourth hall will also be
needed due to the influx of
new exhibitors. It now looks
as if the show will be welcoming
up to 100 new exhibitors in
2024 that will fill Halls 9, 10, 11
and 12 of the convention centre
in Amsterdam.
2024 also marks the seventh
In doing so, they will play
a critical role in driving the
adoption of sustainable practices,
fostering technological
advancements and ultimately
shaping the future of plastics
recycling on a global scale.
And the role of Sustainable
Plastics is simple: as the publication
supporting the organisers
of all the PRS events, we
felt it was time to set up a dedicated
section for PRS coverage.
From now on, here's where we'll
be publishing any print news,
announcements, information or
reports on the shows. As we go
along, we'll also be adding this
news to the PRS page on our
site, sustainableplastics.com,
and vice versa.
PRSE 2024
The next show is the PRSE,
an event which won't be hapedition
of the Plastics Recycling
Awards Europe, an awards programme
that aims to recognise
and celebrate achievement
throughout the scope of the
European plastics recycling industry.
The awards cover seven
categories and offer an insight
into current developments in
recycled material usage, product
design and innovative manufacturing.
They are now open
for entries.
To qualify for an award, entries
must meet a number of
criteria, including that products
and innovations must be
designed, developed or manufactured
in Europe; products
must contain a minimum of
50% recycled content; and all
entries must promote sustainability
and circular economy.
Detailed criteria and qualifying
features for each category are
on the website.
