The WORLD SCIENCE FESTIVAL will bring a slew
of science-themed events to locations
throughout the city, including the American
Museum of Natural History and Google’s New
York headquarters. Events include a look into
the science behind beer, a celestial sail aboard a
schooner and a lesson on the music of cicadas,
apropos of the coming invasion. Prices,

the New York League of Conservation Voters and its education
fund. The May 20 gala raised $850,000 for the group, which

Bertolt Brecht’s play THE CAUCASIAN
CHALK CIRCLE opens this week at the
Classic Stage Company’s theater at
136 E. 13th St. It stars Christopher
Lloyd and features a score by
DAVID MUGRABI, LIBBIE MUGRABI, JACQUELINE SACKLER and
MORTIMER SACKLER at the gala to benefit the 92nd Street Y on May 20. The
event raised a record $4.2 million.

New Museum is hosting DON’T STOP:
NEOPHILIA, NICHE WAR, EXPERT BOXES, THE
SUPERBODY AND NETWORKING THE MIDDLE
CLASS, a one-night event that will explore the
language of the early and mid-’90s. Writers
and artists will perform passages lifted from
fiction and pop culture that exemplify the
jargon that prevailed between 1992 and 1996.
(Think the girl in Jurassic Park saying, “It’s a
UNIX system. I know this!”) The event is at 7
p.m. Admission is $8 for nonmembers and
free for members. The museum is located at

Duncan Sheik, who wrote the music
for Spring Awakening. It tells the
story of a young woman who adopts

end of World War II. The play will

ENJOY FREE ACCESS to all of the museums along
Fifth Avenue, from the Met all the way up to El
Museo del Barrio, at the MUSEUM MILE FESTIVAL,
which runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The avenue will be
closed to traffic between East 82nd and East 105th
streets as the museums host musical acts and activities outdoors. Hear a klezmer
band outside the Jewish Museum or cabaret singer Kim Smith outside the Neue
Galerie. Kids can decorate the street along the entire stretch at sidewalk chalk
stations. Outside the Guggenheim, there will be magic, face painting and balloons.
