Center for the Performing Arts. Less
famous stateside, Mr. Moran is known in
his native land for an irreverent style of

summer at THE LONGEST DAY CHALLENGE, a walk
around the entire island of Manhattan. The sunriseto-sunset event starts at 5:30 a.m. at West 90th Street
and Riverside Drive and goes on for the next 16 hours
around Manhattan’s 32-mile perimeter. The walk raises money and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Association. Participation is free, but walkers can choose to

Park Avenue Armory this summer
in WS. The exhibition takes on
Snow White, traditionally
considered an icon of innocence
and purity, and explores the
violence and sexuality underlying

entrance is restricted to those 17 or
older. The exhibit runs through
Aug. 4.

1980, artist JAMES
TURRELL will bathe the Guggenheim
Museum’s rotunda in colored artificial and
natural light. Mr. Turrell is known for his
experiments with light and is currently in the
process of turning a natural crater in Arizona
into a naked-eye telescope. The Guggenheim
is open Friday through Wednesday.

organization for LGBT youth, is holding its

movie festival, SUMMERSCREEN, in Williamsburg,
Brooklyn. This year’s lineup leads off with Can’t Hardly
Wait, widely regarded as the magnum opus of the ’90s teen genre. Other screenings
in the series this summer will include The Goonies and Speed. The audience gets to
pick the last movie, to be shown Aug. 14. Food trucks are available, and music kicks
off at 6 p.m. The movie begins at sunset. Admission is free, but get there early to
snag a good spot. The park is located on Lorimer Street.
