Since Matt Vaughn joined the sign,
graphics and visual communications
industry in 2006, he's been a regular
at ISA International Sign Expo.

"There are two main reasons
that I look forward to going:
to explore the new technologies
and to network," Matt said..
At the event in 2017, Matt was working with
a large-format print company. Now, he is
director of manufacturing for Colite. "It's
important to stay up-to-date, especially when
things are changing so rapidly," Matt said.
"Printing technologies are changing every
six months. A printer we purchased last year
may have a new version that prints 50 or
75 percent faster. The products range from
simple finishing equipment all the way up to
million-dollar printers."

Throughout his career - which also
included a stint at a sign company -
attending ISA Sign Expo has helped Matt
navigate and anticipate these changes.
"There's always something to learn
by attending a show and digging into
things you may not think are pertinent
at the time. You come across a need
and say, 'Hold on. I remember seeing
that at ISA Sign Expo.'"
Even when his career has segmented
him into one portion of the sign,
graphics and visual communications
industry, Matt has investigated other
products, never knowing when something
might be useful. "There are a ton of hidden
nuggets all over the place. Sometimes they
don't always seem like something you need
immediately. If you can keep it in the back
of the mind, there will be a day when that is
just the right solution."
