ISA Rocks: THE Industry Party!* is a new
tradition that has become known as the
hottest party in town! Mix and mingle,
get a bite to eat, and enjoy live music,
dancing and fun festivities.

Matt Vaughn admits that what he likes best
about the show is the networking. "This is a
tight-knit, fairly small industry. You get used
to seeing people year after year. You can
build relationships when you're on the phone,
but there's so much value in putting a face
with a name, sitting down and chatting with
them about their lives. You can figure out
what makes them tick and build a stronger
relationship."
Matt's also generous with his business cards
and has built a box full of cards offered in
return. "When something comes up, I'll say,
'I know I met somebody who does this. Let
me look back to find their card or look at the
map to remember what booth they were in.'"

Matt also values the connections made
and the commonalities discovered. Those
contacts can pay off - and quickly. At one
of his first ISA Sign Expos, Matt struck up a
conversation at a networking breakfast. "We
told him what we were doing. He said, 'If you
need help, let me know.'

He became our Partner
and we built a tremendous
relationship.
Networking is casting the net out there. We
latched onto a huge business partner that we
used every week. For him it was great. For us
it was great."
In the past, Matt hadn't attended many
education sessions, feeling they took time
away from the trade show floor. "I was afraid
I was missing out, not knowing that the thing
I was missing out on was the education."
"We were on the edge of our seats, just
wanting the speakers to tell us more. To hear
their stories and how they got to success -
that is the value of education."
