Blood Flow: Two Top Reviewers
Discuss Their Role in Peer Review

ach year at the ASH annual
meeting, the Editors of Blood
serve up an opportunity for
attendees to see behind the curtain of what makes ASH's flagship
journal work (see sidebar, B-22).
The yearly "How to Get Published
in a Peer-Reviewed Journal" session, as well as the popular Meet
the Blood Editors sessions have historically guided meeting attendees
through updates in the journal's
peer review processes and policies, and explored topics such as
the anatomy of a great scientific or
clinical research paper and rules
to guide reviewers. 2017's session
will dive into "What Makes a Great
Paper for Blood" - something that
the journal's Editors understand all
too well, and also the roster of peer
reviewers who evaluate the flow of
manuscript submissions, and thus
play a central role in maintaining
the high scientific quality of Blood.

The reception will feature poster presentations by students participating in the minority research
supplement programs sponsored
by the National Heart, Lung, and
Blood Institute and National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive
and Kidney Disorders, and will
also include the announcement of
the 2018 ASH-Harold Amos Medical Faculty Development Program
(ASH-AMFDP) award winners.
The ASH-AMFDP award program is a partnership between ASH
and the Harold Amos Medical Faculty Development Program of the
Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
