ASH VTE Podcasts Offer a Deeper
Look Inside the Guidelines

n collaboration with the GRADE
Center at McMaster University,
ASH has worked to develop
clinical practice guidelines on the
diagnosis and treatment of venous
thromboembolism (VTE). A coordination panel and 10 expert guideline
development panels were created,
made up of more than 100 individuals including U.S.-based and international hematologists, clinicians
from other specialties, scientists
with expertise in evidence synthesis
and appraisal, experts in guideline
development methodology, as well
as patient representatives.
A playlist featuring podcasts
covering the ASH Clinical Practice
Guidelines is available on SoundCloud and iTunes. These podcasts
are released as each guideline
opens for public comment. The
first couple of podcasts cover the
10 evidence-based clinical practice guidelines on the diagnosis

experts such as Drs. Adam Cuker,
Holger Schünemann, Mary Cushman, Paul Monagle, Shannon Bates,

who lived with severe, type 3 von
Willebrand disease. Dr. Chen is a
postdoctoral fellow at The Scripps
Research Institute in La Jolla, CA.
Upon receiving this award, he commented, "I would like to express my
deep gratitude to President Anderson and the reviewing committee.
Receiving this important award is
definitely the perfect recognition
of my current research. Also, having the wonderful opportunity to
speak at the Special Symposium will
allow me to convey the value and
importance of my research work to
scientists all over the world." Dr.
Chen will present his abstract titled
"Identification of VWFA1 Mutation
Attenuating Thrombus Growth but
Not Platelet Adhesion" (abstract
547) on Monday at 7:00 a.m. during oral session 301, Vascular Wall

World Congress Center.
