ASH and International Societies Award Meritorious
Abstract Presenters From Around the Globe
A
SH has partnered with three
international societies, creating abstract achievement
awards for trainees (undergraduate
student, medical student, graduate
student, resident physician, or postdoctoral [MD or PhD] fellow) who
are the first or senior author and
presenter of the most meritorious
abstract hailing from that nation.
Awardees must also be members
of the respective partnering society
and reside in that society's country,
and each awardee shall receive a
$2,000 grant. The three partnering
societies are:
* The Haematology Society of
Australia and New Zealand
(HSANZ)
* The Japanese Society of Hematology (JSH)
* The Society Italiana di Ematologia (SIE)
The Haematology Society of
Australia and New Zealand is
honored to be able to partner with
ASH to formally recognize the best
submitted abstract by an Australian or New Zealand trainee he-
matologist," remarks Dr. Anthony
Mills, councillor at HSANZ. "We
anticipate this award will encourage more trainees to attend this
fantastic scientific meeting and will
also showcase the high-quality research outcomes our trainees can
produce," he says.
Naomi Amano, secretariat at
JSH shares Dr. Mills's optimism for
Japanese trainees. "The number of
participants from Japan to the ASH
annual meeting is increasing year
by year, but we hope this award
will provide the JSH young trainees
with an opportunity to make the
leap to the next step."
