editor's note 010 And the Horn Goes Toot ALISON EMBREY MEDINA EXECUTIVE EDITOR alison.medina@emeraldexpo.com @dretaileditor A near a close, I ﬁnd myself reflecting on what a chaotic and magical year it has been. You all may only see the ﬁnal product of this staﬀ's blood, sweat and tears, but let me tell you-the work has been put in. A LOT of work. This year alone, my staﬀ has endured a sale, a company name change, an acquisition, and not one but TWO pregnant and hormonal editors (myself included), and subsequent maternity leaves. Obviously, we did not plan accordingly. Oh, and let's not forget the small task of completely rethinking, rebranding and redesigning the magazine in your hands (or on your tablet) right now. The hours and hours of discussion and layouts and brainstorming that went in to creating this new book for you were more than any of our paychecks would delegate. But, we did it, because we love it. We love the madness, and we love creating it for you. In a nutshell, it's been quite the year. Looking back through my archived emails, I came across some of the kind words from our readers that have kept myself and our staﬀ motivated throughout the year (and throughout those pesky hormone swings). I share them now with you, not to toot our own horn (okay, maybe a little), but really to thank you for keeping us on our toes, this and every year.
