Windows * All window openings visible from streets or common areas, where style appropriate, shall be enhanced with style appropriate architectural details (i.e.: sills, recesses, pop outs, etc.). * Windows shall not be mounted flush with the exterior wall framing, unless style appropriate. Windows shall be recessed a minimum of 2 inches as measured from the pane of glass to the adjacent wall plane when flush is not applicable. Also refer to Section 4 for style-specific requirements. * Low-e glass is required for all windows or as required by Title 24. * Mirrored or reflective glass is not allowed. * Aluminum windows are preferred. Colored vinyl windows shall be considered. Divided lites shall be appropriately configured and proportioned for the style. Architectural grade windows required. * Headers over windows shall be substantial, proportioned for the opening and appropriate to the architectural style. They shall look convincing in material and detail. Methods may include: * Corner details when adjacent to glass panes such as window or door systems, shall be designed to minimize the column at the corner. Consider that this detail is intended to create a lighter structural feel, enhancing the glass features. A suggested construction method to accomplish this detail entails minimizing the column width and wrapping it with aluminum break metal to match the window/door frame. * Window and door frame colors shall be consistent with each other compliment the elevation style.
