The industry is evolving, and Environments for Aging is
evolving with it
When it comes to pursuing a move to a senior living
community or opting to age in place, so many factors
must be weighed to determine what the right solution is
for an individual and his/her family. Often, the decision
comes down to budget. If there's flexibility there, then
personal preference can more easily come into play.
And, of course, there's the level of care required now and
anticipated in the future.
Every person and every choice are unique, and millions
of baby boomers will be determining their path soon, if they
haven't already. That's what makes it so interesting-and
challenging-to sit where we are as a brand here at Environments for Aging, delivering
content to an industry that's charged with designing the environments in which we age,
no matter where that might be or how unpredictable trends are right now.
So we're staying nimble, starting with the Environments for Aging Expo &
Conference. If you're able to join us in Las Vegas Feb. 26-March 1, you'll find a track
dedicated to successful aging in the home and community alongside the usual
dozens of sessions with a sharper focus on independent living and long-term care
environments. We're also colocating with home medical equipment show Medtrade
Spring (produced by our parent company, Emerald Expositions) to provide an
opportunity for both audiences to get a feel for each other's place in the market-a
place that might not be as distant or different as we may have once thought.
As we work to anticipate your needs and answer them with project profiles, trend
reports, and industry perspectives vital to helping you navigate a landscape ripe with
opportunity, we've made some internal changes, too. I've taken the helm as editor-inchief, while my predecessor, Kristin D. Zeit, now leads us as publisher. Anne DiNardo

stepped up to become executive editor, and Shandi Matambanadzo is now managing
editor. These moves allow us to be more strategic in our growth going forward, and we
already have a few things up our sleeves.
The first is in your hands. We've increased our print frequency to three issues per
year, including this Winter edition that features our new Buyers Guide, which we hope
will serve as a valuable resource that connects buyers and sellers of senior living design
products and services. We'll also be diving into a website redesign in coming months,
to streamline the user experience and better showcase our web-driven content.
