As Harbour's Edge's parent company was undergoing a major rebranding, they identified key directives for their communities - one of which was enhanced dining that would augment the choices and experiences of residents and guests. The solution was to create a signature venue within very tight site constraints that could share services with the main kitchen (thereby minimizing equipment redundancies as well as operational and staffing issues), while still providing natural light and views to the waterfront. The importance of nature as a force for wellbeing is carried throughout the entire architectural repositioning. The community's commitment to a lifestyle of vitality, embracing the six dimensions of whole-person wellness, greatly influenced and directed the dramatic transformation. The central architectural motive was to incorporate the new programmatic additions and renovations in ways that would emphasize reconnections with the natural surrounding environment by focusing on the water's edge lifestyle as well as the physical and visual connections with the shoreline along the intracoastal waterway.
