her travel photos earlier this year at Cheryl
Hazan Gallery in Tribeca in New York,
her first solo exhibit. In January, she rolled
out the firm's art consultancy practice.
"I've identified 150 artists who leave good
feelings, no jagged energy, or unhappiness,"
she says. "I don't mind that for a museum
but it's not for a hotel guestroom."
A proponent and trailblazer in
biophilia, or the positive impact that
nature has on the body and soul, Clodagh
introduces water features, lush living
plant walls, and imperfect, aging elements
into her designs-a nod to the Japanese
philosophy called Wabi-sabi. She points to
a concrete block on her desk that is aging
and yellowing slightly, the perfect base for
her Buddha. "It's a sense of connection to
the real world," she says.
When she joined with Neil Jacobs' Six
Senses brand, it was a turning point in an
already illustrious career. "It was like I was
a solo player quietly playing my violin and
being asked to join one of the best chamber
music groups of the world," she says. "We
were speaking the same language."
Whether she's translating her new age
ethos into the Miraval brand or rethinking
beachside design with East, Miami,
Clodagh's vision comes together thanks to
a community of collaborators, including
Feng Shui masters, color therapists,
aromatherapists, and biogeometrists,
who measure energy readings on every
project site. "When I see people happy in
the spaces I design," Clodagh says, "it's the
greatest reward I could ever get."
