Being a Member of FWSA

The Far West Ski Association offers numerous travel opportunities. Debbie
Stewart, FWSA Vice President of International Travel - as well as her
assistants George Stewart and Mary Alexander - provided information on the
organization's upcoming 2020 Ski Week to Davos, Switzerland; the Adventure
trip to Croatia, and the Dive trip to Cozumel, Mexico. Eric Van Pelt Photography

We've all heard, "Membership has its Privileges", and that is very true as a member of Far
West Ski Association. When you are a member of a local club, you are also a member of a regional council, and a member of FWSA. Usually, a club membership is between $25 and $35
annually, so if you break it down, it's a pretty good deal to include your membership in the Far
West Ski Association. One could be a direct member for only $30 per year; and a club membership is available for only $100 per year.
So, what are these benefits? It can change from year to year, but the travel opportunities
that FWSA offers are some of the best! Traveling with a group can be adventurous and less
expensive than on your own. The discounts can be attractive, as much as the destinations. An
adventure trip to Croatia and a dive excursion to Mexico are coming up. Or, sign up for the International Ski Week trip to Davos, Switzerland, with an extension to Portugal. These are just
a few of the exciting upcoming international options. Check the website (www.fwsa.org) for
all future trips and sign up to join us! These trips fill up quickly!
FWSA is a family of friends and fellow outdoor enthusiasts that enjoy getting together
annually at our Convention, usually held in early June each year. However, the next FWSA
Convention will be May 28-31, 2020 in Portland, OR. We are planning a Snow Day on Mount
Hood as an optional activity prior to the opening of the Convention. So, bring gear to enjoy the
glacier. Plus, this is a great opportunity to mingle with resort representatives to learn about
and plan your next adventures.
As a member of the Far West Ski Association, you can get discounts for lodging, equipment, and services at select resorts. These benefits are also listed on the FWSA website. Check
them out! There are just too many to list in this article.
If you are interested in getting involved in ski or snowboard racing, the Far West Racing
Association (FWRA) conducts sanctioned races each year, which is also open to FWSA
members. Additionally, the Far West Ski Association Ski Week always offers race activities that
will test your skills. Be a part of it. Be a winner. And, have a lot of fun!
If you are a skier or snowboarder, you need to look into a club in your area. There is a
listing of clubs in this magazine starting on page 65. Even if you are not a snow enthusiast, the
organization offers adventure trips to exotic and interesting destinations around the world.
There are many benefits as a member, but the best ones are all the friends you can make
that share your interests. Check us out! ss
