The Far West Ski Association will be holding their 2021 Convention
in October. at the San Diego Marriott, Mission Valley.

Members of The San Diego Council of
Ski Clubs have been very busy this past year,
planning an exciting and fun Convention for
all of our council and club members in the Far
West region. The 88th Annual Convention
will be held at the beautiful San Diego Marriott,
Mission Valley, October 7 -10, 2021.
The hotel is located just 15 minutes from
the airport and is centrally located to many
popular attractions. You can come in early or
stay a few days after the convention and
enjoy the many sites of San Diego, as the hotel
has offered the convention rate from October
2 through 14.
Aside from the various Optional Activities
planned on Wednesday evening - a ferry
ride to Coronado for dinner, Thursday - a bike
ride and Harbor Cruise during the day, followed
by an Oktoberfest-themed Pub Crawl
on Thursday evening, we will also have Friday
activities, including the 14th Annual Michael
German Memorial Golf Tournament, a
Trolley Tour of Old Towne San Diego, and an
Aqua Adventure on the Bay.
Friday evening is the time set for the Annual
Silent Auction and Snowsports Trade
Show. Everyone is invited to join us for an
evening of socializing, and shopping for ski
and adventure packages to go on next year.
Our special guests: Bruce Campbell and
Howard Koch, long-time members of the
10th Mountain Division, will have a table at
the Trade Show, so come visit with them and
listen to their stories about their days in the
10th Mountain Division of World War II.
On Saturday, besides the Travel Expo in
the morning, there will be two very interesting
Snowsport Leadership Academy Seminars
presented: " Strategic Travel Planning -
News, Insights and Updates " , presented by
Debbie Stewart and Nancy Ellis; and " Race
to the Finish - Jedi On and Off the Slopes " ,
presented by Todd Hood. We will also have
two Public Affairs sessions: the morning session
featuring Jon Reveal, from Tamarack
Ski Resort, and the afternoon session, which
will feature three World War II Veterans:
Gil Nadeau, Tom Rice, and Andre Chappaz.

Immediately following lunch, our Keynote
Speaker, Chris Anthony will give a presentation
on the making of his ski film " Mission Mt.
Mangart, an Untold 10th Mountain Division
Story of WWII " . Chris is a big mountain skier,
has skied in various Warren Miller films, and
was a 2018 inductee to the Colorado Snowsports
Hall of Fame. His Youth Initiative Project
is designed to improve quality of life
through introducing youth to educational enrichment
opportunities. The evening will feature
our Annual Awards Banquet and dinner,
with music provided by The Distractions.
The Convention continues on Sunday
morning with a General Session meeting of
the Far West Ski Association, along with elections
of our Board of Directors. For more information
