FWSA 89th Annual Convention

The FWSA 89th Annual Convention will
be held at the Red Lion Hotel on the River -
Jantzen Beach, in the City of Roses...Portland,
Oregon. This was the site of the 1997 Far West
Convention. Hosted by Northwest Ski Club
Council, this was where an idea of a Convention
Kick-Off Pub Crawl came to fruition. Now,
25 years later, Far West will once again be holding
an action-packed Convention along the
mighty Columbia River. We will be " Rollin' on
the River " , June 9-12, 2022.

The Northwest Ski Club Council has kept
all their plans in place, from the postponed
2020 event, and is ready to show our guests a
wonderful time in our own backyard. We will
be biking in the Columbia River Gorge, wine
tasting in Southwest Washington, and taking a
guided tour to Mt. Hood to check out the historic
lodge at Timberline, make a quick stop at
Cooper Spur Mountain Resort for lunch, and
then continue along the scenic highway to see
the world-renowned, Multnomah Falls. A relaxed
Golf Tournament on Friday morning, and
a fun-filled Pool Party on Friday afternoon is
just what the doctor has ordered before we get
down to business at the 36th Annual Silent
Auction and Trade Show on Friday evening!
The 2022 Convention Committee will be
led by Sheri Parshall. Sheri is well-versed on
hosting a Convention, as she has been in charge
twice before, and was the person behind the
idea of the Pub Crawl, so you know she has
some very creative ideas up her sleeve. Her
committee of long-time volunteers is ready to
assist you with all that you could possibly need
and get you pointed in the right direction,
whether that be to the Travel Expo on Saturday
morning, Bid Presentations, the Public
Affairs panel, or simply show you the way to
the shopping center across the highway for
some great bargains.
Of course, there is always business to attend
to during the weekend, but we will take
care of that on Sunday morning during our
General Meeting and Elections of new officers.
We hope to have a couple of former Olympic
skiers on hand for Friday and Saturday, and are
planning two excellent panel sessions on Avalanche
Safety and Skier Safety.
Please join us next June, for a wonderful
weekend in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
Come early, stay late. We have a lot to offer for
those who haven't spent time in the area. The
hotel will be newly renovated, offering king and
double queen rooms, plus various suites for
your lodging convenience. Free parking, too!
