Business Is Picking Up At
Our Favorite Resorts!

Ski season 2022 was a very busy one for
all of our favorite resorts and ski areas. With
COVID finally slowing down a bit, people
were able to get out and enjoy the great snowfalls
throughout the country this year. The resorts
were still being cautious, but overall,
business was back up and booming! Season
passes were flying off the shelves, and gone
was the need to make parking reservations,
ticket reservations, and just get back to a regular
fun time skiing, racing, and being with
friends and family, enjoying the beautiful outdoors.
Ski
clubs and ski councils planned group
trips to their favorite ski areas, or did simple
day trips to their local mountains to enjoy
their favorite outdoor sport. Our clubs and
councils had trips to Mammoth Mountain,
Whitefish Mountain Resort, Steamboat, and
Park City to name a few destinations. Far
West's Ski Week was in Aspen/Snowmass this
year, with everyone staying in Snowmass Village.
This trip was January 29 - February 5.
We had approximately 300 attendees on hand.
Being cautious still of COVID, there were no
large group gatherings, other than the outdoor
picnic. This left the smaller groups to do their
own thing, but everyone was able to enjoy the
ski day, being on the slopes together.
Mary
Manning and Lisa Jennings were wonderful
hosts and did an excellent job taking care of
all of our attendees. Thank you, too, to both
the travel staff, and individual council trip
leaders for making sure everyone had plenty
to do throughout the week. Ski.Com was our
tour operator, doing an outstanding job, as
usual. Schure Sports, Inc. provided a raffle
prize of a Karbon ski suit, which went to
Katie Breese, of Wailers Ski Club. This raffle
raises money for the Far West Athletic Scholarship
Program. We raised a total of $1,100
during the week. Thank you to each and
every one of you who purchased a ticket or
two.
Far West provides many discounts on
lodging, ski and board rentals, outdoor gear,
and adventures such as reduced rates on airline
tickets, and shuttle rides from the airport
to Steamboat, Park City, and NOW...the
Reno/Tahoe area. All you need to do is click
onto our website (www.fwsa.org) and check
out the extensive list of Member Benefits
(under Member Corner) that our club and
council members have available to them. We
added a new lodging partner this year, Crystal
Inn & Suites in Salt Lake City. The Crystal
Inn & Suites in Mid Valley had already been
a partner, but now you have two choices.
Check the entire list of lodging properties before
making your plans for the winter. To get
around in the Park City area, give Kevin Ellis,
at The Transportation Network a call to receive
20% off the shuttle service from the Salt
Lake City airport. They are now doing business
in the Reno/Tahoe area, as well. Kevin is
planning on doing some " special " deals for Far
West Ski Association members, so stay tuned
for further updates. With all of our many
partners, you will always find some good deals
here, just for the taking, so check them out before
planning your next trip!

years this year. To celebrate our 90th Anniversary,
we published our " The Far West Ski
Association Turns 90 " booklet, and we have a
