The Far West Ski Association has a very active travel program. Each year, we offer an exciting
ski week to a popular world famous ski destination, as well as, a noted nearby extension trip.
Every two years, we also add a memorable adventure trip. Just look at the wonderful future
destinations we are planning. And, make your plans to join us!
FWSA 2025 Ski Week - Val d'Isere, France
Our last ski week to Val d'Isere was in 2015 and we had a fantastic time. The skiing was incredible, hotels were great, people were friendly,
and the town is charming with many shops and restaurants. We look forward to returning there as many of you have told us how much you
enjoy skiing in Val d'Isere.
FWSA Chile Ski & Adventure Trip
Postponed from 2023 to Summer 2025
For years, many of you, our Far West skiers, have asked us to offer a South American Ski Trip. Good news: we have plans to do just that.
We will be working on a trip during the summer of 2025. This will be a Ski and Adventure Trip to Valle Nevado, Chile, with additional skiing
available at La Parva and El Colorado. If you haven't skied in South America yet, this is your opportunity.
Valle Nevado is South America's premier ski resort, offering access to over 7000 acres of terrain and has the most modern lift operation
on the continent. They are proud of their laid-back environment with no lift lines, inviting ambience and delicious gourmet food. The awe-inspiring
peak of El Pomo towers above the twin valleys in which the three best ski areas of South America are located. Far West participants
will be flying into Santiago, then travel 90 minutes to the ski area of the world-famous Andes Mountains. This area provides amazing views,
varied terrain, and an incredible experience during our summer, which is their winter. This trip will be limited, so it will be important that you
sign up quickly once registration materials are available.
After Valle Nevado, we will be traveling to the Atacama Desert, a desert plateau covering a total area of 40,541 square miles stretching
600 miles from southern Peru into northern Chile, west of the Andes mountain range. Because the Atacama Desert sits at 6,000 feet, it offers
exceptional skies and 330 clear nights each year resulting in worldwide recognition for its focus on astronomy. The Atacama Desert is the
driest place in the world and the only true desert to receive less precipitation than the polar deserts. Most of the desert is composed of stony
terrain, salt lakes, sand, and felsic lava that flows towards the Andes. Some parts of the Atacama Desert are similar to the surface of Mars.
According to The New York Times, the Atacama Desert is the #2 place to visit. To get there, we will take a 2-hour plane ride from Santiago
to Calama, which is known for the largest open pit copper mine in the world. We will have the opportunity for hiking, biking, and adventuring
out to see unique environmental landscapes. There are sand dunes, salt flats, lagoons inhabited with flamingos, areas with geysers, unique
flora and fauna, various animals and so much more!
FWSA 2026 Ski Week - Chamonix, France
Chamonix is another top-rated world class ski resort. The last time we had a Ski Week there was in 2012. Do you remember skiing the
famous Vallée Blanche? It's an off-piste ski route, 12+ miles long with a vertical descent of 8,800 feet, usually skied with a guide. The views
are stunning and the high mountain environment provides a real sensation of wilderness. If you haven't skied that yet, you may want to do
so on our upcoming trip. This is one of those memorable life experiences that you'll never forget. If that kind of skiing is not your preference,
that's fine. Chamonix combines 5 ski resorts providing skiing for all levels including plenty of intermediate and beginning terrain.
Research is underway for the 2026 Adventure Trip to the Galapagos, which is part of Ecuador, and possibly also going to Machu Picchu,
which is in Peru, or to another destination. Stay tuned for the announcement of this trip.

FWSA 2028 - New Zealand Adventure Trip
We love to plan ahead. This allows us to create top-notch trips for you and enables you to reserve time on your calendar for our trips.
We look forward to an Adventure Trip to scenic, fun New Zealand in 2028. No details yet but it's a destination you'll want to experience so
keep your eyes out for more information.

recharged, inspired with the feeling that the explorations were worthwhile, ones where the most cherished souvenirs bring you the grandest
