Sierra League and Council racers swept the Council Challenge Match Races at the 2022
Far West Ski Week in Aspen Snowmass. The team whose racers' times are the most closely
matched in their two race runs win the competition. The three Sierra challenge teams took
first, second and third. Additionally, the costume team won the Costume Division. L-R:

A Great Racing Season

All Far West Racing Association leagues had successful race seasons, and we had a fun
time at our Mammoth Race Championships in April. Sierra League won the Far West Racing
Championships in the Adult Division and their Junior Division took 1st place. The Roma
McCoy Award for most points per racer in the Adult Division was won by San Diego League,
and the Junior Division winner was Sierra League.
Races were also held at the North American Snowmass Ski Week January 29 -February
5. The Joe Ross Award for the ski club with the most points for racing went to Phoenix Ski
Club and the Lake Louise Award for the ski council with the most racing points went to Bay
Area Snow Sports Council. The Council Challenge Match Races were won by the Sierra 3
Team, who also won the Costume Division. Thank you to the Race Department and Mary
Manning of Aspen Skiing Company for supporting our ski week races and assisting in the
success of our ski week!
The race leagues have arranged their schedules for the 2022-2023 race year and we're
looking for the destination of the Far West Racing Championships in March 2023. We will
be using two locations for the Jackson Hole Ski Week races. The GS races will be held at
Snow King Mountain Resort and the Council Challenge races will be held at Jackson Hole
Mountain Resort.
We look forward to another successful and fun racing season in 2022-2023. ss
