happy to announce that the 15th Annual Michael
German Memorial Golf Tournament has
been rescheduled, and we look forward to
another fun day at Edgefield!
Afternoon was time for a Pool Party,
which did happen - sans pool - but a party
all the same! Our thanks to Aspen Snowmass
Tourism for their sponsorship, and Central
Council for their hard work to put it on!
Friday night kept the good times " Rollin'
on the River " with everyone gathering together
for the Silent Auction Welcome Party, sponsored
by Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, with
drinks sponsored by Jackson Hole Mountain
Resort, and Ski Group.Net.
In another room, the 2021-2022 Councils'
Volunteer of the Year Honorees were introduced
at a reception attended by council presidents,
judges, and guests. This recognition
program has been sponsored by Big White Ski
Resort since 2001.
The rest of the evening was devoted to
our annual Snowsports Trade Show & Silent
Auction, where everyone enjoyed engaging
with our industry partners, and did some serious
ski trip shopping at the same time.
Saturday brought education time! Our
Snowsports Leadership Academy had several
offerings, that included " Strategic Travel in a
Changing World, " a presentation by " Mt Hood
Mountain Rescue, " and " How to Jumpstart Your
Facebook Social Presence. " Public Affairs Panels
included sessions on " Weather Changes Affecting
Mountain Operations & Public Safety, " and
" Athletes & the 10th Mountain Division. "
Our Luncheon and Awards Presentation
was hosted by Powder Mountain, and the
winner of the Western Ski Heritage Award,
sponsored by Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation
was announced.
Did I mention the Mahre brothers?
They were the Keynote Speakers, and
kept us enthralled with stories of their childhoods,
their ski and racing careers, and other
great tidbits.
Saturday was capped by our Awards
Banquet and Dance, where many of our hardworking
volunteers were honored with special
awards, and we also thanked and
recognized our long-term industry partners.
The Banquet was sponsored by Club Med,
with wine sponsored by Sports America
Tours. Then we danced the night away to the
sound of a local band " Thrill Ride. "
Sunday morning started with the 6:30
a.m. " Eye Opener " attended by over 50 hardy
souls. And then it was time for our " work
day " with Elections and Business Meeting.
Club and Council Communications and Social
Media, Charities & Our Community, and the
Historic Club and Councils recognitions were
announced and certificates presented. And
then it was time to adjourn until next year!
Northwest Ski Club Council and its
member clubs worked very hard to make this
convention successful, and even though we
faced post-pandemic challenges of high travel
costs and hesitation to gather, we were very
pleased with the end result! Great job everyone!
We
look forward to seeing everyone in
Boise is 2023! Lots of great events will be
scheduled for attendees before and during.
Consider staying longer, as well! ss
Numerous Activities Were Included at the 89th Annual
Far West Ski Association Convention Held in Portland, Oregon in 2022.
There was great food and libations on the 25th
Anniversary Pub Crawl, founded by Sheri Parshall
of the Northwest Ski Club Council and Host Council
Coordinator for this year's Convention. Enjoying the
event is Randy Lew, FWSA Past President; Larry
Young, Senior Sales Manager of Steamboat Ski &
Resort Corporation; and Debbi Kor, FWSA Convention
Chair. Steamboat has been a generous sponsor of this
annual event for many years.

Due to the rain, the Pool Party was moved inside, but everyone enjoyed the opportunity
to socialize, including FWSA's industry partners. The sponsor for the event was Aspen
