Six Decades of Philanthropy

President, FWSF
The Far West Ski Foundation is completing
it's 6th decade of philanthropic endeavors
in collaboration with the Far West Ski Association,
our industry partners and, of course, the
clubs and councils where most of our volunteers
hale from. The foundation is a 501(c)
(3) non-profit corporation with four primary
missions;
1) Schlolarships for junior racers
(Building for the Future)
2) Support for adaptive programs
(Rehabilitation and Renewal)
3) Grants to museums and historical
archives (Preserving the Legacy)
4) Grants to developing snowsports
activities (Sustaining Snowsports)
The foundation board is comprised of 11
individuals, each possessing decades of snowsports
leadership experience. The officers are:
Alan Christian, President; Jane Wyckoff, Vice
President; Sandra Blackwell, Secretary; and John
Reinhardt, Treasurer. The foundation website

thumbnail sketches of each director's credentials.
This
past year, we received donations from
clubs, councils and individuals, which included
" in memoriam " remembrances. We are continuing
our spring and winter See's Candies YumRaising
fundraisers. At the FWSA Annual
Convention, we conducted a live auction of a
ski package, and Genia Fuller-Crews, World
Freestyle Champion and 2023 FWSA Snowsports
Builder Award recipient, donated six
signed posters of U.S. Ski and Snowboard
Hall of Fame freestyle champions, some of
whom attended our Convention. David
Krupp, Athletic Scholarship Chair and
member of the board, received a variety of donations
which included US Ski Team items,
for another successful Athletic Scholarship
Raffle. FWSF also conducted its traditional
Wine and See's Candies Auction at the Silent
Auction and Trade Show.
We have initiated an effort to seek grants
from major donors interested in the winter
sports industry. Our website was completely
revamped and we plan an expansive outreach
to our members.
BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE
We want to recognize and thank Whitefish
Mountain Resort, Grouse Mountain
Lodge and Karbon (Shure Sports) for their
long-term commitment to the FWSA Athletic
Scholarship Program. Scholarships provide
financial support to junior ski racers affiliated
with US Ski and Snowboard in the twelve
western states. We are unique in that we consider
financial need, athletic performance, academic
achievement, and community service
when selecting recipients.

REHABILITATION
AND RENEWAL
Organizations receiving grants this year
include Copper Mountain's Adaptive Action
Sports and Boise Adaptive Snowsports Education
(BASE) at Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation
Area. We maintain relationships with
organizations in the west that provide adaptive
snowsports programs.
PRESERVING THE LEGACY
This year, we provided a grant to the California
Ski Library, as an expansion project
was initiated to double the size of the facility.
Ingrid Wicken, Founder, has formed a partnership
with the Professional Ski Instructors of
America (PSIA) and American Association of
Snowboard Instructors (AASI) - Western Region,
making the California Ski Library its official
PSIA-W archive/repository.
SUSTAINING SNOWSPORTS
As has been our custom, a grant was earmarked
for USA Nordic for girl's youth ski
jumping development. Deedee Corradini,
friend of FWSA, mayor of Salt Lake City during
the Olympics, and President of Women's
Ski Jumping USA was an unyielding force advocating
for inclusion of women in this sport.
We honor her legacy by continuing to follow
and fund this area of snowsports. In addition,
a grant was made to Winter4Kids, a program
