2023 - 2024 Far West Skier's Guide - 87

The FWSA Convention
2023 in Boise, Idaho gave us lots
of interesting and fun events
(river rafting, Bogus Basin Mountain
Recreation Area, the always
infamous pub crawl, and Top
Golf - interesting way to play
golf, via computer, except for your
swing). Our Councils' Volunteer
of the Year Pete Smith, from
Wailers Ski, Snowboard & Social
Club, and long-time ski patroller
in the Big Bear Ski Resort areas,
was a great candidate and honored
with the Volunteers of the
Year representing the other councils
in Far West.
Convention Awards: Los
Angeles Council and Club
Awards included:
LAC won 3rd place for Website
(Sandra Blackwell, Webmaster);
1st place for LAC
Newsletter (Gordon Cardona,
Publisher), and recognition to
LAC from Charities & Our Community.
A
very special and deserving
award went to Century City Ski
Club, with the Historic Club recognition
for its 50 years of being
a great ski club. The award was
accepted by David Felker.
LAC continues to be represented
within FWSA as members
of the Board of Directors,
various committees and the
FWSF. Five members currently
hold positions as shown below:
