the FWSA Annual Convention. Candidates are honored at the FWSA Luncheon and Awards
Banquet and have the chance to receive a prize of a ski trip for two to Big White Ski Resort
as the overall FWSA Councils' Volunteer of the Year.
The Charities & Our Community Service Recognition Program chaired by Sigrid
Noack, highlights the impact our clubs and councils make to benefit their communities. Club
and council charity and community service activities are awarded a certificate and are featured
in a video slide show at the FWSA Annual Convention.
Council Services strives to provide our 10 councils and over a hundred FWSA ski clubs
with tools and information to successfully achieve their goals and serve their members. We
welcome ideas and feedback from club members and anyone reading this publication. Please

National Ski Council Federation
(NSCF) Brings Councils & Clubs
Together Nationwide

The Far West Ski Association and member councils and clubs are all members of the National
Ski Council Federation. The Federation provides Far West councils an opportunity to
interact with ski councils in the central and eastern United States to exchange ideas and receive
valuable information for our member clubs.
The Federation offers members a variety of attractive discounts on items such as ski rentals,
lodging, car rentals, travel insurance and a variety of ski gear. To access the benefits and
other Federation information, ski club members can go to the Federation website www.ski
federation.org and request a password.
Ski clubs can post their trips on the website to attract new members through their trip
offerings.
The 2023 Annual Meeting was held September 7-10 in Bend, Oregon. We were hosted
by the Riverhouse on the Deschutes, Deschutes Brewery, Element by Westin, Silver Moon
Brewing, Visit Bend, Visit Central Oregon and Mt. Bachelor.
NSCF appreciates our sponsors who are designated Black Diamond, Blue or Green depending

The Friday and Saturday morning meetings featured presentations and discussions among
the council delegates and our industry partners. Saturday afternoon was a business meeting.
NSCF elects officers every other year for two-year terms. At the September 9th meeting
the following officers were elected: President, Cheryl Mann (Texas Ski Council); Vice President,
Michael Calderone (Metro New York Council); Secretary, Joe Harvis (New Jersey, Northwest
and Sierra Councils); and Treasurer, Linda Walker (Florida Ski Council). Like FWSA, the Federation
is completely operated by volunteers.
The Federation was formed in 1999 to provide ski councils an opportunity to exchange
information and to discuss among themselves, and with the ski industry, important issues that
impact clubs and councils throughout the United States. The Federation represents 29 councils
across the U.S. The councils have 640 clubs with more than 300,000 club members. ss
