Lung LLC: Breathing Lessons
I By Tim Sosbe raining, of course, is a cure for many of the problems that plague businesses operating in any industry, providing solutions that run the gamut from onboarding to leadership development. In the life sciences industries, training o ers a similar array of business solutions. But sometimes, training goes beyond the business. Training can also be a double-edged sword that simultaneously develops skills, builds awareness and saves lives. e stakes, quite literally, couldn’t be higher. Let’s talk now about pulmonary arterial hypertension, or PAH, a disease characterized by high blood pressure in the pulmonary arteries, potentially leading to breathing disorders and heart failure. ough the disease is relatively rare, it worsens over time and there is currently no cure. But there is hope. Pharmaceutical companies are developing and marketing a variety of solutions to at least control the disorder and extend life. So now, let’s meet Lung LLC, formerly Lung Rx, LLC. Driven in part by personal reasons (CEO Martine Rothblatt is the mother of a daughter with PAH), Lung LLC has focused on creating therapies for patients with PAH, in-

cluding Adcirca® (tadala l) Tablets, an oral inhibitor therapy. Lung LLC is a subsidiary company of United erapeutics Corporation, which markets Tyvaso® (treprostinil) Inhalation Solution, an inhaled PAH therapy, and Remodulin® (treprostinil) Injection, an infusion therapy. While sharing a mission, the two companies have separate research & development functions both working to bring new therapies to market. It’s a noble mission, and training is doing its part to help.
