Stations turning to AIRVAC 911® to Protect
Firefighters from Hazardous Contaminants
Across the country, fire stations
have made it a priority to protect
firefighters from the damaging effects
of prolonged, uncontrolled exposure
to toxic diesel exhaust fumes and
particular matter.
"It's actually a hidden killer. If
you're not getting hurt in the fire, the
fumes absorb into your skin and if you
don't get rid of them later, they can
build up and cause cancer," said Scott
Vanderbrook, Fire Chief, Estero, FL.
That's why Estero Fire turned
to Air Vacuum Corporation and its
AIRVAC 911 Engine Exhaust Removal
System. "We installed the system in
all of our stations as part of a focused
effort to remove toxic diesel fumes

and reduce the risk of cancer for
firefighters," said Vanderbrook.
"We wanted to keep the smoke from
the exhaust of the large fire trucks
from being in the bays, where guys
are breathing it in and where it's being
pushed into the living quarters or
where their gear is stored."
Stations are full of toxic gases
