"craft" by this definition. The largest craft brewery in
America is Yuengling, which produced more than 2.5
million barrels of beer in 2018. While that may sound
like a lot, in comparison, Belgian-owned Anheuser-Busch
produced 522 million barrels.
But there's more to craft beer than the size or ownership.
Craft breweries play a critical role in communities and local
businesses, frequently reflecting the character and soul of a
neighborhood or city. Your local brewery will be unlike any
other place; each beer will have its own character and style.
Your bartender will know the beers they're pouring and can
tell you what to expect. There is a community among craft
breweries and their patrons unlike that of any other industry.
Collaboration is commonplace, as breweries team up to
create new and interesting beers for their faithful drinkers
Brewery owners come from all walks of life. Many have had
businesses before. Some come from the business world,
or other hospitality industry jobs, and some are retired or
semi-retired military and first responders. If you are new to
craft beer, don't be intimidated by the seemingly endless
choices and styles. Many craft breweries are making new
styles with flavors like peanut butter, candy, or breakfast
cereal, but they're also making your traditional ales, stouts,
and porters. Try everything! With more than 300 breweries
in Florida, the choices are endless. Visit your local brewery
