A bountiful harvest
Georgia’s apple orchards provide some of the best fall fun in North Georgia
BY KARON WARREN
F
or many Georgians, one of the annual rites of fall takes place in the North Georgia mountains. Across Fannin, Gilmer and Rabun counties, visitors of all ages shop for their favorite apple varieties. In fact, many pick their very own right off the trees. Yes, as summer heat gives way to autumn leaves, Georgia’s apple houses come alive.
North Georgia orchards bring in more than $2 million to Georgia’s agritourism economy.
