South Carolina recently revised its ﬁshing regulations, and because Georgia and South Carolina share waterways, residents should be aware of the changes. Anglers can ﬁsh on border waters with a valid ﬁshing license from either state, but recent changes limit the number of ﬁsh caught in border waters. The Appalachian Trail turns 75 With its winding hills, breathtaking views and well-beaten path, the Appalachian Trail has been calling to avid hikers and those who just want to enjoy a weekend with nature since its completion in 1937. The longest hiking-only footpath in the world, stretching from Georgia to Maine and covering approximately 2,180 miles of terrain, celebrates its 75th anniversary on Aug. 14. It took more than 15 years of help from various organizations and hundreds of volunteers to complete the original trail, and since it was ﬁnished, about 99 percent has been relocated or rebuilt. Appalachian Trail Conservancy Executive Director Mark Wenger says this anniversary represents more than marking the date of completing the original trail. “Not only does this anniversary celebrate the completion of the trail, it also celebrates the unique collaboration and determination of countless individuals, private organizations, and GA. Changes implemented last month by the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) may have you gathering more paperwork and spending time in line, as the DDS moves Georgians toward the new federally compliant secure driver’s license and IDs. Applying for or renewing these new IDs requires an in-person visit to one of the DDS customer service centers, along with additional proof of your identity and U.S. citizenship, documentation of your Social Security number and two different proofs of your residential address. These new IDs meet the federal requirements outlined by the Federal Real ID Act of 2005, based on recommendations of the 911 Commission.
