[See bit.ly/ mb713.] In today’s social atmosphere not many seem to take the time to ponder and appreciate what was being presented by the previous writer before they respond from an opposing position. It is an excellent example of how to address the differences of opinion without hostility and criticism. Quite refreshing. Wood’s humility and acceptance of Gazda’s letter was truly appreciated. I do not see very many examples of this type of leadership anymore in today’s society, so when I do, I believe it needs to be brought to everyone’s attention. We are always looking for low- and no-cost things to do locally. Imagine my surprise to see my dad and his wife walking the Silver Comet Trail. Walking the various trails and parks in their area was a favorite pastime for them. Both are gone now, but the picture you ran brought back lovely memories of two wonderful people. Thank you. —Sherry Branka, Jasper Fragile Kids update MAGS MAGAZINE ASSOCIATION OF THE SOUTHEAST 6 Addressing the differences I received my GEORGIA Magazine today, and as I was reading it, it dawned on me that I am overdue in extending a warm thank you on behalf of Fragile Kids Foundation to More online at www.georgiamagazine.org Tatiana is one of the recipients of assistance through the Fragile Kids Foundation, thanks to Operation Round Up. your readers and member-owners, as well as all the electric cooperatives (EMCs) across the state. Fragile Kids Foundation has been the fortunate beneficiary of charitable contributions from many Georgia EMCs via the Operation Round Up programs. Our organization aids medically fragile children who desperately need medical equipment their doctor has prescribed, yet is not covered by insurance or Medicaid. Operation Round Up programs have aided countless children for nearly 10 years with wheelchair lifts, pediatric car seats, bath seats and feeding chairs, among other therapeutic and rehabilitative items. We support children who live in the service areas of each EMC, using local contributions for local children. It is one of the highlights of my work to get to know the people behind the scenes making Operation Round Up so effective. I want everyone at GEORGIA Magazine, and certainly your readers to know there are hundreds of children living with cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy and other genetic and traumatic disorders that have benefited from Operation Round Up and the awesome people at each EMC who work on this program. And the members! Please keep rounding up your bills—you cannot know how much it means to area charities!
