Braves record, Tim Miller makes
watching the game worthwhile.
It's so good to know the real Ty
Cobb story. Being a Freemason and
knowing he was also, the old story I
had heard was disturbing. Thanks for

The recipes for Derby Day and
Steeplechase parties sounded great,
especially the cucumber sandwiches,
but please don't forget that it is no
picnic for the horses. [See "'And
they're off!'" page 38; bit.ly/derby417.]
The races are dangerous and sometimes deadly to the horses made to
run in this carnival environment.
When the majority of the horses are
"put out to pasture," they fare even
worse.
I like the idea of the Derby Dash
stick-pony races for people [at the
Madison-Morgan Conservancy's Derby Day] in Madison a whole lot better.
People can choose whether to participate, and horses cannot. Heck, I'd
even root for the person with the cutest hat. Now, that would be a party.
