"Y'allywood" is giving Hollywood a run for its money. In July,
Gov. Nathan Deal announced that
film and television production companies spent a record $2.7 billion in
Georgia during fiscal year 2017, and
Georgia is now the No. 1 filming
location in the world.
The overall economic impact of
Georgia's film industry is estimated
at $9.5 billion, which includes not
only money spent by casts and
crews but also revenue generated
by tourists who flock to production
locations around the state.
Nowhere is this trend more
evident than in Senoia, which has
reinvented itself as a mecca for film
and TV production-as well as tourism-while retaining its small-town
sensibilities. Turn to "How the dead

Yet for all the industry's growth,
what really makes a difference at
the local level is jobs. When a shortage of qualified local crew members
threatened to drive production elsewhere, Deal launched a jobs-training
initiative in 2015 that became the
Georgia Film Academy. See "Making

out how this educational collaborative is preparing the next generation
of workers for Georgia's booming
film industry.
