Agan's Bakery is a Cartersville institution,
opened by Pledger and Maulsie Agan in 1961. In
1982, their son Jimmy took over and moved the
bakery to its current location on Main Street in
historic downtown Cartersville. In 2009, Jimmy Agan's daughter
Abbey entered into a partnership with her dad, and in 2013
she became full owner when he passed away.
Growing up in her grandparents' bakery and working
with her dad enabled Agan to learn the business " from top to
bottom, " she says. " I feel like it's a very positive thing that I'm

scents. Among the most enticing are the

" When you get items from Apple-Butter Bakery, you know
they're going to be good; you know how they're going to taste, "
says Erica Houston-Pickett, who operates the Stone Mountain
business with her sister Shellane Brown and their mother,
Veronica Pickett.
Apple-Butter Bakery specializes in custom cakes, especially
wedding cakes. Other baked goods include cookies, brownies,
