The Porcelain and Decorative Arts Museum at the Center for Art and
Nature is the first of its kind to integrate art into a garden setting.

" We want people to enter the front plaza and
orient themselves to where they want to go: into the
new museum, into the visitor center, the children's
garden and beyond, " garden Director Jennifer CruseSanders says.
A few steps up from the visitor center plaza, the
Porcelain and Decorative Arts Museum at the Center
for Art and Nature provides views of the botanical
garden from the gallery spaces. The museum, which

isitors to the State Botanical Garden of Georgia in
Athens this summer will have new amenities and attractions to experience, starting as soon as they get out
of their cars. The main approach to the garden from the parking
area is now the C. Burke Day Jr. Memorial Walkway, an elevated
path leading through the trees to a platform that overlooks the
front plaza of the Alice Hand Callaway Visitor Center & Conservatory. This perspective from about 20 feet above the plaza is
new, as is the elevator that takes visitors to the plaza.

The entrance to the State Botanical Garden of Georgia has been
revamped to include an elevated walk and an overlook with stairs
and an elevator to take visitors to the plaza below. From there,
visitors can choose to enter the visitor center, the museum, the
display gardens or the children's garden.
