Flint Energies' art contest
honors agriculture
E
ach year, Flint Energies in Reynolds invites students in sixth, seventh and
eighth grades in its service territory to participate in its Imagine That! Art
Contest. To celebrate Flint Energies' 85th anniversary and the rural origins
of electric cooperatives, the theme for the 2022 contest was the importance of
agriculture and its role in our daily lives.
First- and second-place honorees were chosen for each grade level. Each firstplace
winner received an Amazon Fire HD 10 tablet, a duffel bag and a deluxe art
kit. Runners-up received $30 gift cards and deluxe art kits.
The winners for the 2022 contest were:
* First place (sixth grade): Drisana Biswas, Mossy Creek Middle School, Kathleen
* Second place (sixth grade): Maleah Mallory, Bonaire Middle School, Bonaire
* First place (seventh grade): Rahja Moore, Fort Valley Middle School, Fort Valley
* Second place (seventh grade): Carina Perez, Fort Valley Middle School
* First place (eighth grade): Fatima Lopez, Fort Valley Middle School
* Second place (eighth grade): Heiress Harris, Fort Valley Middle School
The 2022 awards were given in memory of Greg Denton of Perry, who was a
strong supporter of livestock and agricultural education for youths.

Jan. 12 tornadoes.
A couple of the cooperative's members in
Gay brought 50 pizzas, 40 sandwiches, chips,
water and Gatorade for all of the crews and
contractors in the field.
Warming homes: Tucker-based Georgia Electric
Membership Corp. (EMC) and Oglethorpe Power
once again are sponsoring the Georgia Heating
Energy Assistance Team (H.E.A.T.) program. Since
1983, the program has provided more than
$25 million in aid to 100,000 Georgia households
in need of assistance with energy bills.
During the winter of 2020-21, H.E.A.T. provided
assistance totaling $111,000 to 551 households
served by 39 EMCs. Walton EMC Gas (based
in Monroe), Flint Energies (Reynolds) and Gas
South (Marietta) all provide support to H.E.A.T.
through direct contributions or through a
member check-off option on their consumer

featured nine festively decorated homes on
its annual Holiday Lights tour and invited
members to vote for their favorite displays.
On Jan. 19, each of the top three vote-getters
was awarded $500 for a charity of the winner's
choosing. The top three and their chosen
charities were Red Bud Christmas (below) in
Dallas, which donated the funds to the North
Paulding High School Robotics team in Dallas;
Lights of Joy in Kennesaw, which donated to
Influencers Church Kennesaw; and Riley's
Rockin' Christmas in Kennesaw, which donated
to the Children's Burn Foundation in California.
