Water skiing tournament
showcases world-class
athletes
A Memorial Day weekend tradition at Callaway Resort &
Gardens in Pine Mountain continues this year with the 64th
Annual Masters Water Ski and Wakeboard Tournament
May 25-27.
" This amazing event brings competitors from across the
Southeast, the nation and around the globe, " says Rachael
McConnell, public relations manager of Callaway Resort &
Gardens. " It's thrilling to watch their twists, flips and acrobatics
and each athlete working to best the other competitors. "
Guests can watch from the shores of Robin Lake Beach or
from the covered pavilion with stadium seating. At the end of
each day's competition, fireworks light up the sky above the lake.
In addition to the tournament, guests can visit the garden's
Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center, see a birds of prey show or take part
in treetop zip-lining.
" Robin Lake was built especially for the Masters when it first
came to Callaway Gardens more than 60 years ago, " McConnell
says. " At 1 mile long, the white sand beach is the largest
man-made beach in America. It's the focal point for family
activities the whole season, so even after the Memorial Day
holiday has ended, it's just the beginning of a fun-filled summer. "
