our linemen at Coweta-Fayette
Electric Membership Corp. (EMC)
in Palmetto stopped to assist
three people involved in an accident on
April 17. Brad McGinnis, Zack Madaris,
Corey Hendrix and Josh Minnifield
witnessed an accident off Redwine Road
in Fayetteville, when a van hit a golf cart
carrying a 2-year-old child and the child's
baby sitter. The van flipped on top of
the golf cart; the baby sitter was thrown
into the woods, and the child was found
nearby, still in the car seat. The child
was not injured, and the baby sitter had
cuts and bruises. The linemen wrapped
blankets around the elderly driver of the
van, who also had minor injuries, to offer
protection from broken glass.

Jefferson Energy Cooperative helps
students give back to Earth
J
efferson Energy Cooperative in
Wrens celebrated Earth Day on
April 22 by visiting schools in its
service territory to spread the message
of environmental stewardship.
With support from a grant from
Tucker-based Green Power Electric
Membership Corp. (EMC), co-op
employees visited Glascock County
Consolidated School in Gibson, McBean
Elementary School in Hephzibah and
Wrens Elementary School in Wrens.
They helped the pupils
create bird feeders using
toilet paper rolls, peanut
butter, birdseed and string.

book " Happy Earth Day! " by
Deborah Hopkinson to each
school and read the book,
which explains the holiday's
history and importance, to
the students.
