Yogi's helpers
Goats, pigs, pups and more bring extra fun to yoga sessions

D
oing yoga with goats surged in popularity a
few years ago and still is going strong, but
there are many more options for animal
" helpers " to liven up your yoga sessions.
Listen up, yogis. There's nothing like holding
your yoga positions with a monkey running across
your back or a baby bearcat scuttling underneath,
says Cathi Huff, founder and owner of Love GOGA,
an animal-yoga program in northern Fulton County.
Love GOGA started in 2017, offering goatyoga
sessions on Huff's 5-acre hobby farm, Atlantis
Dream Farm in Milton, and quickly expanded to
include other animals. Her farm animals-young
llamas Lenny and Lou and pigs Mabel and Milton-
offer yogis a unique experience and a great workout.
Huff also partners with the North Georgia
Wildlife & Safari Park near Cleveland. Her team
includes the park's more
sociable animals in yoga
sessions and hosts its monthly
GOGA in the Wild.
Huff has led participants
through the various yoga poses
and breathing exercises among
baby kangaroos and sometimes
includes capybaras, penguins
or sloths in workouts.
It doesn't matter which
animal species scurry around
the yoga mats, Huff says. Just
being around them puts your
mind at rest, and that's the
beauty of yoga.
" Whether you are doing a
down dog and have a pig
walking underneath you or
you're in a tree pose and a
llama tries to give you a kiss, it takes you away from your challenges of the
day and makes you pause, " she says. " It makes you thankful to have that
time with your friends or make new friends and be present and enjoy the
time you're having with the animals.

" Obviously, you've got to love animals, because
if you're not an animal lover, you're probably not
going to have fun when you've got a goat jumping on
your back. "
Mobile mindfulness
After hosting hundreds of yogis at Atlantis
Dream Farm over the last seven years, Love GOGA
now takes its workouts almost anywhere. Huff's
instructors and animal caretakers take the
menagerie of zoo and farm animals to college
campuses, city parks and town centers near and far.
Love GOGA hosts regular sessions at Halcyon,
a mixed-used shopping district in southern Forsyth
