Georgia's Canyon Climbers Club is for those
who want to explore the fl oor of Providence
Canyon, brave the swinging bridge over
Tallulah Gorge, master the staircase in
Cloudland Canyon and scale to the top of
Amicalola Falls in Dawsonville.

Join the club by purchasing Canyon Climbers
canyonclimbersclub and get a club T-shirt to wear while
you hike. There is no time limit, so hikers can take as long as they
wish to complete the requirements.
Hike all four of the participating parks to earn bragging
rights and a certifi cate of completion, and, along the journey,
post photos on social media using the tags #GaStateParks and
#CanyonClimbersClub.

" The North Rim Trail has nice views of the waterfalls
here, " says West Malenke, an interpretive ranger at the gorge.

The gorge has been crossed twice by fearless tightrope
Guests can hike to the bottom of Tallulah Gorge by descending
1,099 stairs on the Hurricane Falls Loop Trail. The Gorge Floor Trail
requires a permit to explore.

The third canyon in Georgia's triad of geologic marvels is
2-mile-long Tallulah Gorge. In the northeast corner of Georgia,
the Tallulah River flows through rough, rugged terrain to carve
1,000-foot-high cliffs showcasing five spectacular waterfalls.
Millions of years ago, a rock formation (Tallulah Dome)
was pushed upward by the double folding of Earth's crust.
This formation is made up of quartzite, which is quartz and

walkers-once in 1886 by J.A. St. John (aka " Professor Leon " )
and again in 1970 by Karl Wallenda, part of the Flying Wallendas
family of daredevils.
Aside from hiking trails and history, the park offers
camping, mountain biking trails, archery (the third Saturday of
every month), paddleboarding, rock climbing and a suspension
bridge that sways 80 feet above the rocky canyon floor.

Hikes. Upcoming dates include July 20, Aug. 18 and Sept. 17.
" Visitors enjoy watching the moon rise above the gorge
from the suspension bridge, " Malenke says. " It's a great way to
experience the gorge-an unforgettable evening! "
