Everyone in their practice experiences the challenges faced in treating patients with special needs. The general dentist is faced with
many challenges in terms of dental treatment and management as
the geriatric population continues to grow. In this program, the clinician discusses the treatment planning and management considerations of the geriatric population. The first goal of this program is for
the general dentist to be familiar with clinical considerations prior to
the treatment of geriatric patients. The second goal is for the general
dentist to be knowledgeable about dental treatment modalities and
restorative options. At the end of this program, the general dentist
will be familiar with dental management considerations for the geriatric population.

* collect information and complete a medical assessment
* recognize the use of glass ionomer restorations and silver diamine
fluoride in practice
* review different treatment management options
