grand central SNApSHotS Grand-to-be: Supreme Diana Ross. Her daughter, Rhonda, and son-in-law, jazz musician Rodney Kendrick, are expecting a child. The grandfather will be Berry Gordy, founder of Motown Records… we’ve all seen Dreamgirls, right? …Karen Best Wright, on her blog Grandparents Parenting Grandchildren , proves that the smallest ideas are often the best. Case in point: her February 20 posting on where and how to make bookmarks for the g’kids with their pictures on them. What an intriguing way to bond a child and a book! Karen’s site includes easy instructions and downloads for the designs. …Has your daughter-in-law dragged you onto Facebook yet (with the lure of seeing ever more grandchild photos)? (Facebook, by the way, has 175 million members, making it the sixth-largest “country” on the planet, according to Business Week). If you’re still wondering what it’s all about, sign up and let the Facebook (cont. on page 14) Grand introductions Here’s someone we want you to know: Beth Greer. She’s a holistic health advocate—she calls herself Super Natural Mom™ and she’s written her first book, Super Natural Home: Improve Your Health, Home, and Planet—One Room at a Time (Rodale, March 2009)  . Beth is a testament to how making small lifestyle shifts can make a huge difference in one’s health. By using alternative methods of healing, eating a diet free of pesticides and avoiding hazardous chemicals in her personal care and household products, Beth eliminated a tumor without drugs or surgery. Before she discovered she was ill, she was the president and co-owner of The Learning Annex, the largest private alternative adult education company in the U.S. That career allowed Beth to challenge thousands of people to feel empowered to make changes in their lives. And then, she herself was challenged—and rose to the challenge with courage, action, gratitude and an activist mindset. “We must stop living with dangerous chemicals that make us sick,” she says (and in the April issue of GRAND, we will present the quiz you can take to check out the safety of your own home and living environment). Beth lives in Marin County, California. In 2007 she was a recipient of the “100 Magnificent Marin Women Award” by Search for the Cause, a nonprofit organization that investigates how exposure to chemicals in our daily lives increases the risk of cancer. GRAND INSIDER: If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area, Beth welcomes you as a GRAND subscriber to attend her talk and reception celebrating the publication of her book, 7 p.m., March 20, at Book Passage, Corte Madera, California .
