You look good for your age!
Dear GRAND reader,
Well-meaning people say that all the time to those of us past 50, or in my case, way past (I'm 77,
thanks for asking!). But, when it comes to praising others, what does it say if we qualify our comments
by age? Check out what Ashton Applewhite has to say about ageism and how to respond to this type of

More than a music icon and jazz legend, Ramsey Lewis, Jr. was a highly accomplished father and grandfather
as well. His son, the Rev. Bobby Lewis, shares some solid insights into his experience with a father
who traveled the world, was highly successful in his career, and still made his family a priority-now that is
legendary!

Since 2004, GRAND has been committed to sharing and amplifying
the voices of those who seek to save our planet (actually, saving the
humans on the planet. The planet will go on, while civilization may not).
We've also promoted voices to help save our democracy. Yes, we're in
danger of losing that, too; so, I hope you are using the power of your
vote for your grandchildren's future this November, and in every election.
It's so simple: elect decent people who believe in science and who
can put the common good above personal gain.

A new social contract
for global climate justice
Pakistan contributes less than one percent to the
global greenhouse gas emissions perpetrating climate
change, yet one-third of the country was recently inundated
with " biblical " floods that killed hundreds and
displaced millions. If we're to move towards a sustainable
future in the wake of such tragedies, the response
will require more than just infrastructure repairs and a
return to the status quo, says columnist Huma Yusuf.
She shares a vision for global climate diplomacy where
the countries responsible for pollution pay reparations
for the damage they've caused while developing countries
bring forward a clean, green future. (Followed by
a Q&A with TED Global Curator Bruno Giussani)
