ports-of-entry, with one denoting passage on The Queen Mary
with Helen's name hand-written on it for identification.
" I'll find out if Sandy and Ruth still have it. If they do, I'll ask
them if they'll send it to you. "
Silence. It's sinking in. " You may be receiving a family heirloom
to use as the centerpiece of your nursery. It has travelled
the world and was owned by your future son's great-greatgreat-grandmother.
That's about as profound and cool as you
can get. "
The trunk arrives. A few extra items are inside: two books
written by Ruth E. Schwinn, Henry the Lamb and Henry and
Dale, and a letter.
We are so happy that you are breathing new life into the old
trunk! ... I hope the spirits of generations gone before will fill
your hearts and help lead little Sawyer through a wonderful life.

Recently he became a Grand-Uncle. He is also
a doting faux grandfather to five children, aged
two to eighteen.

Helen's great-great-great-grandson arrives April 9, 2024 at
8:09 am. He is a sleeper, not a crier (at least not yet).
Someday, we all hope he will extend the family line - and
Grandma Helen's trunk will be passed along again and again
and again.
