I complained to the Board, and it was removed for
safety and insurance purposes and the nasty emails
I got from the renters made it clear I would not be
singing Kumbaya with them.
Then one night the doorbell rang, and I opened
it to find the adorable little girl of 6 or 7 named Lily,
crying in the hall, looking for her mommy. I brought
her in and called downstairs and found out the
mother had gone upstairs to their maid's room/office,
and she was notified.
Thus, we began a more civil and friendly relationship
and then a new baby appeared.
A few months in, I saw the baby in the hallway with
the nanny and marveled at how cute she was. Big
brown eyes, curly hair and a delicious pudgy body.
Soon she would stop at my door on the way out
and we would " play " ...well I would coo and she would
smile.
Eventually she started to crawl, a determined slapping
on the floor as she raced down the hall and
then...out of nowhere she was walking and knocking
on my door Really! And as she couldn't really talk yet,
she called me " Doodah " for Susan and thus began the
greatest love.
She is now my God daughter, comes by three or
four times a day for raisins or " bopcor " ...ie popcorn.
She also loves to watch herself on one of the countless
videos I have of her...this one in dance class
where she kind of does the steps and follows directions
that end with her raising a flower over her head
and saying " daada! "
She insists on watching at least five times and
pitches a minor fit if I try and limit it.
She is the most adorable creature in the world. I can

say that as I didn't " make her. " She has divine black
shiny curls, huge brown eyes with lashes that won't
even require mascara, a button nose and rosebud lips
with a baby teeth smile that is killer.
Her personality matches her looks...a ten! She has
a sense of humor, I mean it. She hides and then pops
out when we say ... " Oh no! Where's Nina? " She has a
wicked smile when she teases by handing me a piece
of her " yum-yum " meals, then takes it back to eat it
herself.
Her father has taught her
how to count and name colors
and she's not even two. A
genius!
Once and a while she
escapes through an open door
and comes over naked.
I have never had a daily
baby experience and it is my
great luck, that after being
isolated for two years with
COVID, that I have been sent
this lovey lamb, my Tootser...
who calls me Doodah.

was one of the first female TV
comedy writers on The Mary Tyler Moore
Show, Bob Newhart, Partridge Family
among others. She had two Top Ten
Movies of the Week. In a second career
she ran the speakers bureau for the
Anti-Defamation League and was the
UN Observer for the Simon Wiesenthal
Foundation. Her memoir is Hot Pants in
Hollywood: Sex, Secrets & Sitcoms.
