2020 CATALYST HANDBOOK INDUSTRY CATEGORIES PROCESS CATEGORIES COMPANY INDEX REFINING FCC RESOLVE 950+ Application: Reduction of sulfur in naphtha obtained from fluid catalytic cracking of oil feedstock. Description: RESOLVE 950+ additive includes multiple technologies that actively reduce sulfur in both cracked naphtha and FCC flue gas. Sulfur is principally redirected to H2S, which most refiners then process by the Claus process. Advantages: High activity; minimal activity dilution of the base catalyst (Fig. 1). Also provides SOx reduction. RESOLVE 950+ may allow a refiner to process higher-sulfur feedstock. Economics: RESOLVE 950+ is a preferred additive when refinery economics value high-octane naphtha with low sulfur. RESOLVE 950+ can be used to reduce hydrotreating costs and offset the associated octane loss. Catalyst system * Proprietary, Zn-based Matrices * Synthetic hydrotalcite Binders * Synthetic, integral binder RESOLVE 950+ is built on Albemarle's hydrotalcite technology Fig. 1. RESOLVE 950+ catalyst details. Development: Compatible with all of Albemarle's FCC catalysts. 950+ offers enhanced fuel sulfur reduction activity.
