2020 CATALYST HANDBOOK INDUSTRY CATEGORIES PROCESS CATEGORIES COMPANY INDEX REFINING FCC Rezel-DNX Application: NOx emission compliance in full or partial burn, CO oxidation to CO2 with reduced NOx emissions, and afterburn control. Description: Rezel-DNX is an alumina-supported additive with Rezel proprietary non-platinum (Pt) active components (Fig. 1). Its physical properties are compatible with base FCC catalysts to minimize attrition. Rezel's latest development in NOx reduction additive technology focuses on selectively converting precursors that form NOx from N2. Rezel-DNX comes in several activity levels, tailored to meet a wide range of operational needs. Advantages: NOx emissions are generated in the FCC unit as a side effect of typical Pt-based CO promoter use. While effectively promoting the oxidation of CO to CO2, Pt-based promoters also oxidize nitrogen, resulting in an elevated level of nitrogen oxides in FCC emissions. Rezel-DNX additives are an effective CO promoter based on Rezel's proprietary alternative blend of non-Pt active components. With Rezel-DNX, CO oxidation activity is similar to Pt-based promoters, while NOx emissions can be reduced by up to 60%. While primarily designed as a low-NOx-combustion promoter, Rezel-DNX is also effective in partial-burn regenerators where NOx precursors are also present.
